ROYAL GWENT FETE NOVELTIES

Stalls to be Set Up Around the Town
The Royal Gwent Hospital Fête will be a great success this year if the public will give it the support that it will merit. The proceeds from these fetes have nearly reached £70,000.
Road races, ambulance, putting, bowls, air rifle. whist, amateur variety. baby show are some of the numerous attractions for this year, and a special day has been set aside for the children. This will be on Wednesday, August 7. All children will be admitted for 1d., and there will be everything to amuse them. During the afternoon hundreds of prizes will be given away. There will also be daylight fireworks.
Carnival Day will be Thursday, August 8. Mascots, price 3d. and 6d., will be on sale. In addition, novelty stalls will be placed around the town. Everyone can help to make this a proper carnival day. It is hoped to decorate the streets, and tradespeople are asked to decorate their premises.
Valuable prizes are being offered by the Western Mail and South Wales Echo for the amateur variety competition. There are classes to suit everyone. Those who can sing, dance, recite, etc., should send for entry forms now.
Well-known artistes have been procured for the open-air stage, and the dancing tent will be better than ever.

Local Girls In Newport Carnival "Court."

At Newport Carnival "Court" the beauty and charm of local girls who took part caused great admiration. They were the Jubilee Queen (Miss Iris Caesar), and members of her Court - the Misses Kathleen Conley and Marian Gill.
